Inky submitted this photo with the caption “Even the cheery blossoms are jealous today.”
Cheery blossoms? Surely if Goths are going to pose anywhere then among the cheery blossoms would be the last place you’d want to be? OK, I’m being deliberately obtuse, but cheery blossoms sound particularly apt when thinking about cherry blossoms. So many Goths (is it 3 or 4 I’ve posted so far) love to pose up cherry trees for photos. I thought perhaps Inky was quoting something famous so I did some investigation but all I could find was this poem by Kobayashi Issa:
In the cherry blossom’s shade
there’s no such thing
as a stranger.
Yeah, right, also a bit cheery.
Back to the photo, I’m a sucker for a red dress and in this photo the dress looks stunning in contrast to the blossoms. Points for the wide-net fishnets and boots. She’s looking quite wistful and appears to be quite high in the tree so extra points there. It’s daytime but quite overcast.

In the cheery blossom’s branches
there’s no such thing
as an unphotogenic Goth
